To film a line which it does not exist. A line laid on the ground and effaced by time, a line that only a glass eye could perceive. A certain answer was nowhere to be found: the line kept on moving and vanishing. The glass eye would get lost and miss the point. On a mountain path, everything is a border.

Faber Navalis is Latin for Boatbuilder: words in an ancient language for describing an ancient profession.
It might seem just a video about the restoration of a wooden ship, but the actual subject of this documentary-film is the state of mind of its shipwright: an Italian researcher in maritime ethnography who decided to learn boat building skills in order to understand the intangible knowledge hidden behind the construction of a wooden ship.
This film is an experiment in autobiographical ethnography in which the shipwright is also the filmmaker, at the same time director and directed, both silent artisan and self-aware documentarist: a combination of aesthetics and ethnography which attempts to bring out an inner dimension that may only with difficulty, if it all, be rendered with propositional prose.
COWS AND QUEENS

The Herens cattle is a race of cows essentialy bred for tournaments. In these tournaments and among the herd, the most powerful cow is “The Queen”. Spending four months working alone as a cow herder in the Swiss Alps, Laura is given the following advice by the previous herder: she must be the Queen. The advice is taken literally, in an absurd pursuit for the title. Reflecting on power relations between humans and other animals, the film puts the unidirectionality of this relationship to question. If cows are not just bodies to be controlled by humans, what else can they be?
In German and Portuguese with subtitles in Latvian and English.
