12th July “DJ Krankenwagen” at fon Stricka villa garden

Feeling special respect for Latvian folk songs, the industrial music of the German cultural space, as well as for health system workers around the world, the members of the DJ Krankenwagen group create their music from their heart and other internal organs. "We would very much like our music to educate both peasants and aristocrats. The Krankenwagen in the title means "ambulance" in German, and we try to include speed, sirens, importance, love for people in our music, inspired by the ambulance, and just like an ambulance does not pay attention to traffic rules, our band denies any musical rules," say the musicians.

21st July Kristīne Prauliņa & The Soulful Crew in Liepaja

"It is a fulfilling joy to share this music and the interaction that lives between us musicians. That's why we invite everyone who wants to enjoy live music, colorful harmonies and juicy grooves to the album concert!", says The Soulful Crew about the upcoming concert. The Soulful Crew is an original music composition created by Kristīne Prauliņa, in which Toms Mikāls plays keys, Valters Sprudžs plays bass, Jānis Kalniņš plays guitar, Kaspars Kurdeko drums, and Kristīne herself sings. The group performs self-written music in English and Latvian, Soul, blues, R&B, gospel, as well as singer/songwriter music style. The Soulful Crew's sound varies from intimately fragile motifs of the singers to full-sounding, broad expression of soul music. The program includes both melodic, lyrical songs with less instrumentation, and full-fledged groove music.

23rd July Katrīna Gupalo // concert on garden stage in Liepaja

26th July "Summer Adventures of Sound and Taste" with pianist Andrejs Osokins at Jaunpils castle

The program includes the most beautiful pieces from pianist Andrejs Osokins concert programs of recent years, dedicated to outstanding composers - Ludwig van Beethoven, Frideric Chopin and Ferenc Liszt. Andrejs Osokins is a globally sought-after Latvian pianist, a laureate of the most important international pianist competitions and the Latvian Grand Music Prize, who regularly performs in legendary European concert halls both in solo concerts and with orchestras led by outstanding conductors. For museum lovers, the Latvian National History Museum offers various intriguing exhibitions.

Exhibition "Colorful Latvia"

Several hundred historical photos taken by both professional photographers, amateurs and private individuals are exhibited and digitally viewed. The exhibition is dedicated to such a self-evident and commonplace nowadays, but from a historical point of view, a relatively recent phenomenon, which is color photography. In our imagination, the past exists apparently in "black and white", because black and white photography dominated in Latvia until the 90s of the last century. This has also greatly influenced today's human visual perception of how the past "looked". Perhaps it is precisely the absence of color in the picture of the great-grandmother's youth from the time of the tsar or interwar Latvia that increases the distance from the specific era, because when looking at a black-and-white picture, it is more difficult to fully identify with what is seen there. Modern technologies allow the ancient pictures to be artificially colored, however, they cannot be considered as original color photographs, which are shown in the exhibition from the 20s-30s of the last century. Years of independent Latvia, the Second World War, years of Soviet stagnation, events of the Third Awakening in the 1980s/90s. new Year's Eve. The exhibition "Colorful Latvia" provides a unique opportunity to see history in the authentic colors of photographs of eras, covering more than a century.

Exhibition ‘’Satversme 100+’’

The Constitution of the country creates a direct connection between the ideals of the founders of Latvia in 1922 and the modern society. The connection between the past and the present is the basis for introducing the history of the creation of the national constitution to the public in the year of the hundredth anniversary of the Constitution and inviting them to think, discuss and evaluate the ideas and values expressed in the Constitution. The exhibition will offer to learn about the historical origin of the main legal principles of the Constitution, getting to know various "constitutions" in Latvia since the medieval times of Livonia. Visitors will be able to take a detailed look at the development of the Constitution in 1920-1922. In the discussions of its 26 authors on the most controversial issues of the constitution, in which different visions of Latvia's future collided. The interactive and digital elements widely used in the exhibition will allow a better understanding of the functioning of the principles of the Constitution in daily practice to this day.

Exhibition “Vainagošanās”

During the Song Festival, the exhibition "Crowning" will be opened at LNVM, which focuses on magnificent headdresses worn over many centuries. A wreath is the most luxurious woman's ornament with a very ancient history and a deep symbolic meaning. Both the wreaths themselves and their heralding role have changed over time. The original tradition of wearing wreaths continued into the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. As time passed and the traditions lost their original importance, the wreaths gradually fell out of circulation, becoming relics kept as a keepsake. LNVM keeps the largest collection of headdresses in Latvia, which includes wreaths and hair ribbons from different centuries and regions used for different occasions in life. Lectures, excursions, discussions, as well as creative workshops are planned at the exhibition, which will encourage participation in making different types of wreaths and learning techniques.
